xplor is a post-covid-19 community based on an
app with the goal of re-connecting people in a world after the pandemic. there's no strict audience for the app—it's simply to bring people together to forge friendships, relationships, situationships, all the “ships” users may desire through location-based social networking. what does that mean? it means everyone is located in one of the following locations
new york city, los angeles, chicago, or london.
xplor vip is a platinum tier level of membership within the xplor app that is offered to those interested. everyone who joins this community is automatically an xplor vip member. you’ll learn more about why this is important for the world building we’re doing down below!
because of xlpor’s premise, we’ll be hosting mod-led meet ups throughout each month. one example of that is “xplor at the park!” which is exactly what you think it is—a plot post of a park in the comm's many locations where characters can run into others throughout the day and f2f interactions can take place. this does mean we’ll be doing some community writing in the f2f format to encourage and foster an environment for interactions beyond the usual.
mods will also be hosting random trips to various destinations across the world, music festivals, and other high profile events. this is where xplor vip comes in handy. this means we’ll be throwing together a community plot post where every member is welcomed in a specific destination with all expenses paid for through the xplor vip membership fees!
additionally, mods will host monthly happy hours, themed ffas, interactive games, and more to cultivate an inclusive environment for all.
we encourage people to make new characters or bring in old characters they want a home for. what we ask is that because this community is based on an app that’s designed to connect people, everyone should play their part in being welcoming and interacting with other members.
• with that said, outside messaging apps are not welcomed here. discord, wire, and other means of keeping communication (this does exclude interactive games) have no place in the landscape of this community. we want an active, engaging, and welcoming friend’s page that allows everyone to partake in conversation. using outside messaging apps will result us telling you to quit it or be removed.
• no ic/ooc blurring will be tolerated. we’re all adults. we know that any ooc information should be kept ooc and any ic interactions should be kept ic. if this line is crossed at all and you’re having an issue with another player, our dropbox is open to help mediate and solve any issues that may arise. it is our responsibilities as mods to help members come together and we’ll do what we can.
• pbs should be chosen with a few things in their consideration: keep to the 5 year rule when it comes to age and don’t whitewash.
• faux credits are welcomed so long as they're realistic. no a-list actors or musicians, and no super high profile celebrities.
we also ask that members give the mods the benefit of the doubt. we’re here to run this game and provide a cool and progressive space to write interesting characters. sometimes we make mistakes and that’s okay. we’re human, we have jobs, and we’re also enjoying our own characters within the community. nothing is ever done on purpose, so come to us and let’s discuss like adults. we will also do what we can within our power to correct any mistakes.
• ic or ooc usernames are welcomed. no underscores, extra letters, derogatory slurs, numbers that make no sense—you know the drill.
• have an ic post and ooc post, both backdated.
• within the ooc post, you must have
at least 100 words that give us insight into your character in addition to the basic information: name, date of birth and age, hometown, location, occupation.
• if your application has been deleted, it's because you were rejected on the basis that we don't feel you will be a fit for our community. we won't be answering pms or comments about rejection inquiries.
while we’re not here to dictate aesthetics, we do recognize that there are plenty of journals that take the burden off of writers when it comes to icons and codes.

we require two updates a month. one must be interactive to show that you’re engaging with your fellow members and the other can be anything else of your choosing. we would love to see narratives, weekly or monthly roundups, and other creative updates and we’ll be encouraging these with writing prompts and challenges!
because friends lists tracking is a huge pain in the ass and takes away from the mod team’s time to put together fun activities for the community, we’re going to do activity checks every month. please still keep your friends list update! we trust you to take care of that. for the activity check, you’ll be required to comment a specific post to show us you’re still with us and haven’t gone to the graveyard of dead members.
hiatuses will be granted to those who need to step away from rp for 1 week up to 8 weeks. if you’re not going to be able to be active, let us know and we’ll work it out with you. we’ll then check in the day of your return and if we don’t hear back within 48 hours, you’ll be removed.
extensions for updates will be 3 days. if you need longer, just let us know. when it comes to introductions, you’ll receive an extension of 48 hours maximum.
